Shelly Birger, M.A., has studied and played with children all her life. Her academic background includes extensive studies in developmental psychology and Montessori education. A family coach and educator, her practice encourages parents and young people to proactively create the kinds of relationships they want.

She uses Montessori philosophies and peaceful communication techniques to create physical and emotional home environments that meet everyone's needs.

In-Home Autonomy Consultations

Your In-Home Autonomy Consultation begins with a walk-through of your home. I'll make observations from a developmental perspective about the accessibility, efficient use of space, ease, flow and aesthetics. I will talk you through my recommendations to transform your home into a more child friendly space. We'll go through your child's daily routine and identify any overt challenges or consistent complaints.

By making a few physical changes in your home environment we will create more ease for you and your family, provide more opportunities for independence for kids, and offer everyone a chance to contribute to the household through thoughtful preparation of the space and easy access to cleaning supplies. After our consultation I will email you my notes in the form of a to do list. I may also refer you to a Montessori Services catalogue full of child-sized implements for the home.

For maximum results, I recommend autonomy consultations when your child is 2,3,5,7, and 10.
